The opening scenes pulled me in. I needed to know what would happen with these characters. As the story built, I became even more immersed.
As a lover of dark fantasy, this book met all of my expectations. Original and thought provoking.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. From the very beginning I was sucked in to it and really enjoyed all the twists and turns the book had to offer. It was a gripping read that I found very hard to put down. I had to know the fate of Zen, Leo and Verity. I really want to read more about some of the characters we met in Shadowland so hope that Shaun has more to come from them.
This is not my usual choice of reading. I tend to prefer lighter reads or serial killers. This book is a novella about a dark place called Shadowlands.
The story involves a bloke called Zen who gets caught up in a wager that he doesn't really want to bet on. If he loses, the price is his soul.
The story is a good descriptive read. There's no padding as you get taken to hell and back with the characters. And some of these characters are very scary indeed.

Once again Shaun delivers a great story, full of action suspense and twists. I'm not really a lover of monsters, but I totally love an evil woman, and Melantha's character totally fulfilled my expectations in this respect, with her thirst for revenge and destruction.
The fast pace kept me interested, and so did the will-he-won't-he... There's never knowing how Shaun's stories are going to end...
It's not my favourite story, but it's still a great read, which will no doubt please the fans of magic, darkness and horror. After zombies, serial killers, gypsies and altogether weird stuff, one wonders what's going to be next, and it's a rather exciting feeling !

Reading this book was a waste of my time. It was weird and didn't make any sense. Don't waste your time too.
