Disappointing.Keeps referring to 'your children' and 'your family' as the persons to designate to make decisions for you in case you can't. But the challenge for singles is precisely that often they DON'T have children, family or even close friends who can be surrogate decision makers etc. Options for handling these issues are not addressed at all so the book(let) is of limited use. Does have brief, straightforward explanations and recommendations of a general nature with regard to estate planning.Product details

Buyer beware! Very frustrated - I really wanted the online "free" downloadable forms. Like another reviewer I searched and searched by every variation I could think of but NOTHING! I did buy this in 2016 (publ. in 2013) but the other reviewer couldn't find the website back in 2013 either. Frustrating!
This book is a very easy, how- to on estate planning. I bought it as gifts for my single friends after realizing that they had a lot of questions and often felt that they weren't quite sure who to talk with or how to set things up themselves. It is a must read for responsible people
I would highly recommend this book. It is clear, concise, and extremely well-written. It presents the material in logical steps, covers the issues thoroughly, provides needed forms, and brings up important issues that most of us never think about. And it does all this without the tiresome anecdotal examples so many authors think they have to add for "interest." Makes this daunting task simple and painless.
As a young student in Rio, I learned the painful reality of seeing my aunt pass away with no last will, no documentation on her intentions, no beneficiaries on her various accounts. While Brazilian law is different, the need to prepare this material is vital in the and single men and women must need pay attention of what's important because they think things goes directly to family and children.
Living now in new York and owning my house I see now how important to prepare this legal information and not wait 60 years. I think all singles should refer this reference regularly, especially life changes.
I got this version of Estate Planning to see how it fit in the scheme of doing estate planning. I found this version gives great information for the single person. I like how the author also provides a website with the latest versions of the forms you'll need to plan your estate. Well worthwhile to spend some time getting your affairs in order and the author certainly makes it easy to do.
I am sorry to have to write such a negative review...contrary to the other reviews regarding this book. This is a very concise guide, much of which is based on getting your records in order... A web site is mentioned multiple times in the guide and, in fact, seems to be the basis of much of the planning. This is to be accessed to download free forms to help you manage your records. However, this web site, [...], is simply not there. Nothing comes up on a search remotely resembling this. You will get a lot of interesting sites but not this one. So, before buying this book see if you can find this site, perhaps you are more computer savvy than I am. Without the forms, so often mentioned in the text, this book is not much different from others on the same subject.
